Best Practices for IT Configuration
To ensure the best possible experience for our clients, Refined Data Solutions has compiled this list of configuration requirements based on our experience with clients running Adobe Connect (AC) and Vantage Point Suite (VP).
Adobe Connect and Vantage Point utilize a proprietary port, employs Flash technology, and has several optimizations that IT departments in larger organizations need to take into consideration when deploying Vantage Point.
This is not an exhaustive list and is considered a living document. If you need help or wish to raise an item for inclusion in this document, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Network - Port Requirements
Adobe Connect uses a proprietary port, 1935, as the default for communication between a client workstation and the Hosting Server. Should this port be unavailable, Adobe Connect will use port 443, or if that isn’t available it will use port 80. Port 443 and port 80 communication is not optimal and typically results in degraded service, which can cause camera (video streaming) freezing and voice (audio) stuttering.
It is strongly recommended that port 1935 be opened on firewalls so that Adobe Connect can use its native protocol and run the fastest possible.
Adobe Connect users can test their connections prior to an event / session / meeting by using the Adobe Connect Diagnostic Test available here: https://admin.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm
Flash
Adobe Connect employs Flash technology, so it stands to reason that Flash Player must be allowed / enabled for end users. If your Group Policy disables Flash from being used, it needs to be updated to allow Flash.
Whitelisted Domains
For Adobe Connect and the Refined Data Solutions Pods (like Vantage Point, Hands Up, rPhone, Cachet, Footprints and Talking Stick) to work, there are two domains that need to be whitelisted:
VPN
For Adobe Connect and Vantage Point to work properly it is strongly recommended that users NOT connect through a VPN. Users should disconnect from the VPN prior to joining a meeting / session. If a VPN connection is required, please contact Refined Data Solutions to discuss in further detail.
Antivirus / Backup
Antivirus and/or backup software should not be performing scanning activities/backups during a meeting/session. If possible, prevent the software from running while Adobe Connect is active.
