What is the HTML Client for Adobe Connect?

The HTML Client for Adobe Connect is the ability for a participant to join an Adobe Connect virtual session from within their browser. Currently participants can join in their browser using Flash, but as browsers stop supporting Flash the experience is degrading and the technology needs to be replaced.

Is there another option to join a virtual session?

Yes, the ability to join an Adobe Connect virtual session using the Connect Add-in has been available for many years. If you are a host or presenter you are probably already using the Add-in to run your sessions. As the transition from Flash to HTML occurs we recommend using the Connect Add-in (also referred to as the Meeting Application) to run and attend any Adobe Connect virtual sessions.

If I use custom pods can I use the HTML Client?

No, with the initial release of Adobe Connect 10, October 2018, Adobe Connect does not support custom pod extensions within the HTML Client, custom pods will continue to be supported in the Connect Add-in (Meeting Application).

How do I disable the HTML Client?

By default, the HTML Client will be enabled at the account level for all clients and it will need to be enabled on the meeting level. For custom pod users, it is recommended to disable the HTML Client at the account level until custom pod support is available.

To disable the HTML Client log in as an administrator and go to Administration >> Compliance and Control >> HTML Client Settings >> Remove check-marks >> Save.

Can I force my participants to use the Connect Add-in?

Yes, log in to Adobe Connect as an administrator and go to Administration >> Compliance and Control >> Advanced Settings >> Select the options according to your licensing agreement and hit save.
